While working on design submissions I created a lace pattern that I ended up not using for anything. It was too pretty to set aside, so I decided to turn it into a cowl and use up some of my pretty sock yarns. The larger version of Jayda Cowl flew off my needles in only a few knitting sessions. I love that it is big enough to wear around my neck or around my upper body as a shawl.
But, a huge cowl might not be for everyone, so I decided to make a smaller version as well. I've had some Knit Picks Imagination in my stash for awhile in the Ruby Slippers colorway. I'm a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz, so of course I had to buy it. I love red, and one of my favorite hats is a plain red beret I made from some handspun, handdyed llama. Now I have a bright red cowl to match! The smaller version of the cowl uses only 175 yds, so it is a quick knit that is great for using up leftover sock yarns.
